Minimalism in Forex Trading and in Life

This article is inspired by a mentor who opened my subconscious eyes not only about being a Forex Trader but in life as a whole. The name of my first mentor is Dr. Myles Munroe. Well I considered him as my mentor since I have been following and applying his teaching for almost 4 years now. God bless his soul, Dr. Myles Munroe passed away a year ago with her beloved wife in a plane crash while they are on their way to Grand Bahama for his ministry's Global Leadership Forum. He was a great teacher, a respected evangelist-pastor and author, leader, great father and he was in a global advocacy of making people discover themselves by unleashing the leader inside them. This article is not about Dr. Munroe though ,this is about his teaching that has inculcated well in my subconscious mind - which is Purpose. Dr.Munroe explained well that each person on earth has its specific purpose and that the only way that a person can be fulfilled is when he or she discovers, maximized and gave away/serving his or her purpose on earth. That is quite broad to expound but here is a quote from Dr. Munroe that inspired me most: "The greatest tragedy in life is not death, but it is living without a purpose; it is more tragic to be alive not knowing why than to be dead or not being born at all" . What Dr. Munroe mean was that, a man without a purpose may most likely to have a complicated life than a man who discovered his purpose. A man without a life purpose is just like Cain, a wanderer, with no sense of direction. People that never discovered their life purpose have tendency to abuse or waste their life and time. Purpose simplifies life. I don't mean simple like living below your means. what I mean simple is a life that is focused on a specific path or direction. When a person discovers his purpose, it will make his life narrow and less-complicated, and it will help a person to have a clear mind, decisiveness and knowing what to do on a daily basis. Purpose helps a person to manage his/her time, choose a career to take, people to hang out with and even activities to attend to. I will be writing an article regarding this one but let me focus on how purpose leads to success in Forex Trading.

​"Minimalism- a product of Purpose" ​Success in Forex Trading requires commitment to the highest level as possible. I will go straight to the point here, especially to those who are aspiring or wants to be a forex trader, that if you cannot see yourself 10 or 20 years from now as a successful trader, then this is not for you. This industry may look easy but this is tough, you will battle with your own demons here, and your own emotions. Minimalism in Forex in general means that you should make this as part of your few options in life to do for a lifetime, not just a hobby - but a lifelong career. You cannot be a wanderer in the currency market - you will lose money, that is a guarantee! Minimalism in Forex also applies as a strategy to win consistently in the markets. I'm going to write an article about a simply and minimalist strategy that a trader needs to stick and that's it. Strategy that is as simple as A-B-C checklist that whether or not you will take the trade; whether or not the trade is worth your hard-earned money to take risk. When I started in Forex, I started with a very complicated strategy of using lots of indicators. That was the time that I was still experimenting in the markets and it was a disaster, yet a very good learning experience that taught me. Thank God, through the principle of purpose and sticking in with my vision, I devoted my time studying and seeking for the simplest strategy that will give me consistent profits- and that is no other than PRICE-ACTION TRADING on a "Naked" chart. This strategy is a very minimalist strategy, that whenever I open my trading platform, I only look for these A-B-C checklist and when they are not around, I stay away from the markets. It helped me to have a clear mind in the markets and to have a sound decision making of whether of not I will take the trade. It also helped me to manage my emotions, that I will not trade based on my emotions but based on what I see in the markets that suits my criteria. As simple as that! CONCLUSION Success in the markets does not just happen overnight. It starts, again, from discovering our purpose, and seeing a vision of our future in this field. Purpose and vision are our staying power that gives us the strong will to stay no matter what, whether we experience losing trades or not. These two also can help us to be minimalist in our approach, to avoid complicating things especially in technical analysis that seems to be complicated as perceived by many. And lastly, since Forex promises Time and Financial freedom (and delivers it anyway), it is better to be minimalist choosing Forex Trading as our lifetime business or career while enjoying quality time with out loved ones. Simplicity in life is not about living below our means. I do not agree to that mindset. Simplicity means choosing ones single path and maximizing your full potential in that path, bear fruits and share it to the world. After all, life is about shining our light within, exhausting our potential that our creator planted in us and sharing it to the world.
